Combination seals

Geomembrane is also used as part of combination sealing systems, which are primarily found at landfill sites. A combination top sealing system used at a landfill site may include the following components:
  • the waste;
  • the support layer, for example waste incinerator bottom ash;
  • the mineral layer;
  • the membrane layer, generally PE-HD;
  • the drainage layer, consisting of sand or drainage matting;
  • covering earth.

Inspection
At the request of the client QSI can assess the combination seal before, during and after it is laid. The mineral layer will then be tested by an accredited laboratory on behalf of QSI, looking among other things at the degree of compaction and the K value.

Service life
The correct application of the appropriate materials, the laboratory tests and the supervision of QSI's independent and accredited inspectors will create the conditions for compliance as a minimum with the service life requirements.
