Plastic pipework

QSI can inspect and evaluate the welding of plastic pipework, most commonly carried out in PE-HD. In their capacity as a fully independent and accredited inspection body, QSI will check the welding parameters before welding operations commence, the execution of the welding process and the results thereof. The following items will be considered:
  • the welding equipment and the qualifications of the welders;
  • the welding parameters, the welding procedure and the welding process;
  • the materials used;
  • visual inspection of the completed welds.
Through their expert evaluation of the welding process, QSI contribute to the prevention of welding defects. Once the work is complete the welds will be inspected and checked for compliance with the specified requirements.
The inspection findings will be set out in a report for the client, accompanied by a declaration of conformity if applicable.

If the client wishes it is also possible only to carry out a visual inspection at the completion of the work.
If desired our staff can also carry out unannounced inspections of welding activities.

Inspection standards
Inspection of butt welded joints is based on Dutch standard NEN 7200:2004, supplemented if necessary with the manufacturer's specifications.
Dutch standard VM102 will provide the basis for the inspection of electrofusion welds, similarly supplemented with any additional welding specifications provided by the manufacturer.
At the request of the client, QSI inspectors can also carry out accredited inspections in accordance with German standard DVS 2207.
