Geosynthetics in earth works, road and water infrastructure

Geosynthetics are widely used in the civil engineering field.  Depending on the geographical context and lifespan aspects, geosynthetics are used during the design phase, for example of civil engineering projects. Sustainable management of groundwater flows (seepage) to manage the lifespan in the long term is often the starting point for this. The possible consequences of contamination that may occur, for example due to an accident, can be managed using membrane applications. The materials used include geomembranes (such as PE-HD or PVC-P) and geotextile. 
 
Services for leak tightness of groundwater barriers
The experts from QS Inspection conduct inspections at the client’s request during the installation of the geosynthetics:
• inspections of sunken constructions in the dry, for example for the construction of the access roads to a tunnel or railway underpass
• inspections of sunken constructions in the wet, for example sheet piling pits and sunken roads or motorways.
The inspectors’ findings are recorded in a report for the client. A ‘Declaration’ can also be issued to verify conformance. We also offer test options for service life analysis of the plastics used.

QS Inspection is accredited to conduct inspections of plastic geosynthetics on the basis of, among others, the relevant standard “Protocols for the application of plastic geomembranes used for soil protection” and the "CUR221 Geosynthetics handbook for sunken infrastructure.
