Determining the state of maintenance of civil infrastructure is the basis of long-term management. The structural and economic lifespan of civil engineering works can be extended considerably with effective maintenance.

Managers of civil structures (municipalities, provinces, and the state) are responsible for the maintenance condition and safe functioning of civil engineering structures. Preventing disasters can also be a motivation for performing inspections. However, the main reason for producing an overview of the states of maintenance is to manage the maintenance costs. With this, inspection also leads to improved predictability with regard to budgeting.                                                                                                               

Inspections of steel and concrete

The experts from QS Inspection use modern technology to determine the condition of constructions, for example corrosion on the basis of environmental class. Residual coating and material thickness, cracking, carbonatation depth or concrete coverage can also be the subjects of an inspection.


The inspections below consist of visual inspection, possibly supplemented with further investigation. Inspections on the basis of NEN2767 – “Condition measurement of infrastructure” or “Guideline for water barrier constructions in regional water barriers” can be conducted by the experts from QS Inspection.

  •  inspections of docks, facing materials and riverbank protection
  •  inspections of bridges, viaducts and culverts
  •  inspection of sheet piling, pumping stations and locks

The inspectors’ findings are recorded in a report for the client. The report can also be supplemented with an intervention plan for the future maintenance of the structure.
